Narcotics Use Advisory Committee

At the February 18, 2014 Commission Business Meeting, the Commission approved creating an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee of stakeholders to study the issue of prescribed narcotics for patients receiving treatment as a result of workers' compensation injury.  

At the regular business meeting on February 22, 2016, the Commission received the recommendation  (PDF) from the Narcotics Use Advisory Committee. The Commission accepted the information as presented for further consideration by the Commission.

June 18, 2012 - The Commission approved creating an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee of stakeholders to review the current and alternative methodologies used to calculate net present value of lump sum payments to ensure fairness to the claimants and the employers. The Committee will include representatives of employers, claimants, insurance carriers, and businesses.

The SC Workers' Compensation Commission will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in Hearing Room A at the Commission to receive comments on the proposed new Regulation on Mediation,

At a Special Business Meeting on Monday, April 9, 2012, the Commission approved the language for the Proposed Mediation Regulation (PDF) .

Proposed Regulation 67-1801 (PDF) will be submitted for publication in the April 27, 2012 South Carolina State Register. Public Hearing is scheduled for May 29, 2012.

Commission Proposes to Draft a New Regulation 67-1801 Mediation
At the regular business meeting on January 17, 2012 the Commission received the recommendation from the Mediation Advisory Committee proposing a new regulation to give Commissioners authority to order mediations, create a list of cases for which mediation before any hearing would be beneficial to all parties and deal with procedural issues to include, but not be limited to, requesting mediations, selecting mediators, and costs. The Commission unanimously approved to proceed with publication of the Notice of Drafting of the proposed regulation in the February 24, 2012 issue of the State Register.
